The Beach Store Café is a historical landmark on Lummi Island and a favored gathering spot for locals and visitors. The Beach Store Café began in 1901 as a mercantile and post office. Over the years, it has evolved into the café it is today, managed by Tess Winds-Johnson and Jason Brubaker. The café has a charming and homey atmosphere with inviting staff that serve fresh, local cuisine. They offer an array of dishes, from salads, burgers, fish & chips, hearty sandwiches, to wood fired pizzas, and even a selection of delicious homemade desserts. On Friday nights, you can listen to live music, and in the summer they have a lovely beer garden to enjoy. On the front porch of this yellow farm style café, you can enjoy your meal while you watch the ferry sail across Hale Passage with stunning Mount Baker as a backdrop. The Beach Store Café is located a short walk or bike ride from the ferry landing.

 Lummi Island Farms

Full Bloom Farms

Full Bloom Farm

The Marshall family moved to Lummi Island in 1984, restored the historic Beach Store, and reopened it as a café. Their farm started as a small garden to supply the café, providing seasonal produce for the menu. After the family sold the Beach Store, Lis followed her passion for growing rare and exceptional peonies. She shipped root divisions nationwide and supplied cut flowers to the local community and florists. Soon, the farm grew into a diversified vegetable production and a new orchard of French cider apples for cider-making.

Today Full Bloom Farm continues to produce a wide variety of vegetables, fruit, eggs, indigo, flowers, and harvests solar-evaporated sea salt. They grow everything using organic and no-till practices. You can shop their farm stand on their website. They also offer other delicious products from local producers in Whatcom and Skagit Counties. May until July they offer peony bouquets from their collection of rare and beautiful peonies. For more information please visit their farm website.
